Q: Does Camp BEL charge HST?
A: Yes, Scouts Canada charges HST.

Q: How do I book the camp for more than two nights?
A: Email [email protected] to discuss your plans to ensure you have all the support needed to host a successful event at Camp BEL.

Q: Where does the camp get its drinking water from?
A: Thames Centre Municipal water supply.

Q: Do I need to bring first aid equipment?
A: Yes, we do encourage you to bring your own first aid pack.​

Q: Is there internet available at the camp?
A: No, the camp does not provide internet access.

Q: Does the camp have any specific rules?
​A: Yes, please see the Rules page for further details.

Q: Can we cut down trees for firewood?
​A: No. Please use only wood you bring, from a designated location, or find on the ground that is not alive.

Q: Where can I have a camp fire?
A: Please use the designated camp fire locations where a metal ring has been placed.

Q: Are pets allowed at camp?
A: ​No, pets are not allowed on any Scouts Canada property unless otherwise stated. Exceptions to this rule include on-duty service animals and professional demonstrators.

Q: Does Camp BEL have a crest?
A: Yes, see the Camp Ranger to purchase for a very reasonable price, your very own Camp BEL Crest.

Q: Does Camp BEL have an AED?
A: Yes, Camp BEL has an Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) located inside the main building, just inside the main entrance. The AED was donated by The Mikey Network.

Main Building Specific

Q: Does the kitchen have dish clothes, tea towels, food wrap, or condiments?
A: No, please make sure to pack your own dish clothes, tea towels, food wrap, and condiment.

Q: Are garbage bags provided?
A: No, please come prepared with garbage bags. 

Q: What tools does the kitchen include?
A: There is an assortment of tools and equipment. From simple things like cutlery and dishes. When it comes to cooking, there is a chance the kitchen won't have the exact thing you need so plan accordingly to ensure your adventure is a success!

Q: Does the kitchen comply with Ontario Food Premises Regulation?
A: Yes, the kitchen is inspected by the Middlesex Health Unit and the official summary sign is posted in the kitchen.

Sub-Camp Specific


Q: Where can dirty dish water be dumped?
A: Located along the tree line in each of the sub-camps is a leaching pit. Please dump your dish water into the mesh box located at the foot of the leaching pit sign.
